Love for Bouquets of Alike Flowers

Discovering My Style...

Ever since the first bridal show we attended, I learned that I am drawn to arrangements of the same types of flowers. It's not that I don't like mixing flowers, I love all types of flowers, but I really like the look of like flowers bunched together. It appeals to the organized, elegant bride in me. Isn't this beautiful?

I love this.

I also really like the idea of having each bridesmaid carry different bouquets of the same flowers (does that make sense?). I think the bridesmaids would appreciate being about to pick "her favorite flower," and get to take home a bouquet she loves.

And this.

This is all just talk really.

I have not been to a florist's shop yet and therefore, all of this is subject to change. I wish I was going flower shopping today actually. I can't wait until we are close enough that we're ordering our flowers!!! That's going to be a wonderful thing to obsess over (rather than invitations - ugh - so over it at this point!).

I just hope that my taste (loving the look of like flowers together) will work in our favor cost-wise. I think I'm pretty lucky to be getting married early spring when a lot of lovely flowers are in bloom. Also, my favorite flower, tulips are going to be at their peak in April. Score! I hope we have lots and lots of tulips!

I took these!

What kinds of flowers do you love?

Off to the boonies

I'm headed to the Shenandoah Valley this weekend to spend some quality time with my mom. She lives in a little cabin in the woods and I'm really excited to get away from city life for a little bit. Especially with views like around every corner...

I'm taking my camera, my laptop, and my wedding planner...

I hope to get a lot done, but I also want to relax quite a bit too. Unfortunately, I won't have internet access (ahh, I'm freaking out a little) so I will miss all of your lovely blog posts over the holiday. I'll be back in full swing Monday evening. Probably with pictures like these, which I took last weekend on our trip to Charolettesville, VA at Thomas Jefferson's Montecillo...

Going anywhere special this weekend or sometime soon?

Do you love country places with mountain views and lots of pretty flowers?

SO in love with these...

Happy Weekend

I know I've been promising a bunch of meaty posts lately...

And I swear I'm good for them. I said this last Friday and I'm going to say it again. There's quite a bit going on between changing the wedding date and work. I hope you readers understand! The warm weather isn't helping either. I desperately want to spend time outdoors, rather than inside blogging! You know what that means: I need a new laptop. The one I have is centuries old and I can't stand to wait for it to boot (yes, it's one of thosethat takes 10 years to start up).

Along with the changing seasons, you'll see some changes here as well.

To name a few, there's a new layout on the way, better navigation, and I'm nixing the New Approach. More on all of that later. For now, here are some pictures to make your heart melt (at least they do mine)!

This is one of the first flowers that Aaron ever gave me back in 2005!

I took a dozen pictures of it, because I couldn't believe how beautifully it bloomed. A close friend of mine at the time told me her mom always said, "If a man gives you a rose and it blooms beautifully, that means he really loves you!" Turns out my friend's mom was right because 5 years later, the fella that gave me this rose got down on one knee and asked me to spend my life with him..

Ahh... Isn't this the stuff weddings are all about?

Thanks for stopping through!

DIY Flowers

Love.

Love.

This arrangement...

Can you believe this was created in a class?

Absolutely no offense intended! I love the final product and I'm want to take the class! Apparently, they're offered at The Floral Studio in Baltimore, MD (right around the corner from me in VA)!

See their blog right here (there's some amazing pictures and more of this arrangement) for the information. To schedule an appointment or find out about upcoming events, e-mail The Floral Studio at info@floralstudio.org. I'm e-mailing them now!

Similiar Looks, Different Weddings

Not The First or Last...

The last few weeks, it's become more and more obvious that we're not the first (or only people) to have a wedding. We're talking about an age-old tradition that rich or poor, old or young, any and all different races and in all different places does one way or another.

Despite this fact, most brides (including myself) really want their event to be unique. The chances are though that someone had the same or at least similiar ideas before you. Take for instance, our color palette. Initially, I was thinking light pink, champagne and olive green, which is fairly common I'm sure, but then I got the bright idea to add burgundy! I though this was the pefect shade to add a fall feel to our overall look and would be "different!"

Well, ever since I got the idea I've seen loads of weddings using this very same color palette. Now, do I think our wedding is going to be exaclty like those weddings before us that used the same colors? Of course not. If nothing else, it proves to give us a good idea of what we can expect to see, which is exciting and helpful! Check out these pictures from The Treasured Petal blog and let me know what you think.

Does this look generic?

I love the feedback, thanks!!

The Brides Bouquet

GASP!!

It's obvious at this point that I'm obsessed with flowers... Have you seen all my flower postings -- Bouquets, Obsessing About Flowers, More Flower Inspiration, B-B-Beautiful Bouquets, and Color Consensus... Finally!

Well, consider those posts just a start, because I'm no where near making a decision about the flowers we're going to have. Think about it though, there's a lot to consider! What will the ceremony and reception flowers look like, the centerpieces, the bridesmaids bouquets and of course, my bouquet?

My mom said she regrets having an all-white bouquet. She didn't like the white-on-white look, but I thought brides are supposed to have white bouquets -- not like that really matters, because I don't have to follow tradition, but what have you heard?

Does a bride have to have a white bouquet? I hope not, because I like this one for me (from Flower School, an amazing blog -- great for woman obsessing about flowers)...

Fabulous

Love this...

The same dressed morphed into four different styles is very cool! These flowers, the table dressings, and the design is also beautiful! It might be a little too purple for what I have in mind, but still noteworthy!

What do you think?

Color Consensus... Finally

I can't get enough of this color palette...

I think it's safe to say that these flowers are a big part of our overall inspiration (see my previous post, Pretty Pretty for more). When we go to the florist, I'm handing them these pictures and saying, "I want that!"

What color table cloth do you think would go well with these flowers? Keep in mind that we're still leaning toward the fall. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

B-B-Beautiful Bouquets!!

Love em!

Bouquets like these make me wish we were incorporating more of the color black in our palette.

Pretty, Pretty

I'm really into pink and burgundy right now. I think the color combo pink, burgundy, creme, and of course, olive green would be perfect for a spring or fall wedding. What do you think?
