Digger's Paradise

I have so much to share...

My weekend was amazing and I thought of you (Olive Wedding readers) the entire time! It was more than I could have asked for. I spent quality time with my mom, worked out, found some great stuff for our wedding, and loved every minute of it.

I realized how much I love the country. I love being in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but trees and wild flowers. I love nature and the way it continues to to inspire me. I realized how much I love the lovely rustic tablescapes and photo shoots, which I see on my favorite blogs. I look at it different now, I think. As a bride, I'm inspired to be creative. And being in the middle of nothing, there's plenty of room for creativity!

Our first stop was the local thirft store...

Where I found packs of wedding bubbles for 25 cents a piece. I was really excited about this find, because I know these bubbles are usually sold for about a $1 per pack. I also know bubbles are allowed at our venue, while rice and sparklers are not permitted. I'll have more about how I plan to use these bubbles later.

The next morning, we found ourselves at yet another thrift store...

This time the find was phenomenal. The place was a huge warehouse. There were rows and rows of various vendors selling everything from clothes to jewlery to just about anything you can think of.

At first glance, it looks like a huge warehouse of junk really. But if you look a little closer, talk to the people, and start digging... it is, as one man called it, "Digger's Paradise."

My beautiful mom getting lost in the stacks!

Look what we found!

We did it! We finally started making purchases toward the wedding...

Check out these awesome, awesome (olive) green vases we found! Just a few caught our attention, but after a little digging, we were able to find more than 20 vases of different shapes and sizes to use at the reception. Our venue is full of fireplace mantels that will need decorating so I hope that these will come in handy. My grandmother is also a master at designing fake flower arrangements. I hope she'll work with me to make these vases come to life for my wedding!

I felt really good about this purchase. Although a lot of people might not understand how I will use these thirft store vases in my wedding, I know you other innovative, bargain brides are thinking like I am! We will find a way. Now, Olive Weddings didn't just inherit the name because "I love weddings," but because I love, love, love the color olive. Also, I feel good that we've started. Of all the wedding planning advice I've read online and in magazines, the most common pieces of advice I see is "start early," and that was just the mind set I had this weekend.

Guess how much our 20 vases cost...

At just 50 cents per vase, we paid about $12.

Woooo hooo!

Have you found anything for your wedding at a thirft store? Would you even consider looking?
